RIVISANDA MADYA VIDYALAYA

A message from the vice Principal

I would like to state here proudly and happily, Ke/Ma/Rivisanda c.c is “ a lamp studded with the gems of education “which could enlight the lives of sons and daughters all over the country. Yet it has been, one of the first ten central schools that made resplendent by Dr.C.W.W Kannangara, the father of free Education. This school was first established in a thatched hut, in the village called “ Mawathagoda” in 1904. Due to the lack of convenience, It was re-established in the village of “Dippitiya” in 1914. During the period of 1942- 1943 this has been converted to “ a central school” according to the concept of the most respected Education Minister in the history, late Dr. C.W.W Kannangara (1931-1947) after that upgrade “Organizational structure” of the school has been significantly changed. So the following changes have been taken place.· Remaval of primary classes from the school

 Start of mixed educatio
· Establishment of hostels
· Provinding residential facilities for the scholars
· Admission of grade 6 students through an aptitude test
 English medium Education

Due to above circumstances, the demand for the school was greately increased. So to meet the mounting demands, Mawathagoda Central school was taken to new buildings built in the village of Alupotha, Ussapitiya in 1960. The school was established there, in an area of 11 acres. At the same time, based on the symbols, the sun and the moon of the flag of “Sathara Koralaya” the school was re-named as “Rivisanda Madya Vidyalaya” Being the only central school in the Aranayake electrorate, it has later been named as “Aranayake Central school”
At present, the former students of the school are in every walk of life. Some of them are holding very high posts. And some are bearing significant status in the society. Among them, there are civil servants, administrators, public officers, doctors, engineers, lawyers, lecturers, teachers, security officers, clerks, famours, writers, poets and soon. Also some of them have gone abroad and they too spread the dignity and prestige of mother “Rivisanda” all through the world.
And these days, there are 1800 students in the school from grade 6 to 13 yet there are the classes of Art, commerce and Science streams for A/L s similarly there are go teachers in the academic staff. And the non academic staff is consisted of 13 members. Further, “Aruna sri Theatre Hall” which belongs to our school is one of the best physical resource in the area.
So, I would like to dedicate my best wishes to Ke/Ma Rivisanda central college, as a proud former student, a former teacher, the vice principal of the school and as a parent of the school.

Mr.G.R.G.B.Gunathilake Vice principal (Ed.Administration
